How to Load a File from OneDrive Personal into Power BI Desktop?

Load a File from OneDrive Personal into Power BI Desktop

To load a file from OneDrive Personal into Power BI Desktop, you can follow these steps:

  1. Go to OneDrive and navigate to the folder containing your Excel file.
  2. Get the Direct Link to Your File, Right-click on the file and select Copy Link.

Before using the link in Power BI, make sure the link format looks like the following:

https://yourorganization-my.sharepoint.com/personal/yourname_organization_com/Documents/yourfolder/yourfile.xlsx

Replace

  • yourorganization-my.sharepoint.com: with your organization’s SharePoint URL.
  • yourname_organization_com: with your personal username for OneDrive.
  • Documents/yourfolder/yourfile.xlsx: with the correct file path and name.
  1. Open Power BI Desktop.
  2. Go to Get DataWeb.

  1. Paste the copied link and make sure the URL is pointing directly to the Excel file

Now your Excel file is loaded to your Power BI and you can choose which data you want to display.

All you have to do is to ensure the file is shared correctly with the account you’re using to connect to Power BI, and that you have permission to access the file.
