By default, when you insert a new button in Power BI, it will display a tooltip text โ€œClick here to follow linkโ€ when you hover over it as shown below.

In Power BI, a button is a visual element that you can add to your report or dashboard to create interactivity and allow users to trigger actions, navigate to different report pages, apply filters, or execute other custom functions with a simple click such as:

  1. Navigate to different pages.
  2. Apply or clear slicers.
  3. Navigate to Bookmark.
  4. Navigate to External Web URL and more.

To add a button to your Power BI report or dashboard, follow these steps:

Steps

  1. Go to the โ€œInsertโ€ tab in Power BI Desktop.
  2. Click on โ€œButtonโ€ and select its type as shown below.

  1. From the โ€œFormatโ€ pane, customize the button shape and style as you prefer.

  1. At the โ€œActionโ€ section, enable it, and select which action type you would like to do.
  2. In our case, we will select โ€œPage Navigationโ€œ.

As we earlier mentioned, when you hover over the button, you will note that the โ€œClick here to follow linkโ€ is shown below.

Steps

  1. Select the action button.
  2. In the โ€œFormatโ€ pane, click theย Actionย tab.
  3. Underย Tooltip, Turn off theย tooltipย toggle.
